All pieces are original, unique and hand crafted in my Otaki workshop on the Kapiti Coast. I use driftwood, wooden slabs and recycled wood from cable reels, pallets, wool bales, second hand doors and beds. Whatever is available and whatever I can find. All the metal parts of my creations are also recycled, I use horse shoes, reinforcing and engineering steel off-cuts, pre-loved drawer and cupboard handles, and old railway nails and spikes. All pieces are soundly constructed and professionally finished. The wood is oiled with tongue oil a rich fragrant furniture oil which highlights the wood grain and rustic imperfections giving each piece its unique character. I began making furniture at my home in Christchurch in 2012, when I was given some large slabs of oak. After considering what I could use them for, I made some outdoor furniture. The experience was life changing and on arriving in Otaki I set up my workshop. I taught myself to weld and use a chainsaw, power tools and other machinery necessary to create my original designs. I am passionate about what I do, drawing inspiration from the raw materials I find in and around my local area. I have a large dedicated workshop at my home. I enjoy working with my customers to see their unique designs come alive. Creating furniture and other items is my full time job and I love it!Flo
